Ask any group of people about their experience of horses, and you usually hear a horror story from someone. Putting horses and people together without proper training can be disastrous.
Working with horses, however, provides a range of opportunities for physical, social and emotional learning, and can, with the right guidance, be therapeutic.

Grooming, leading, lunging and riding activities promote gross and fine motor skills, and increase balance and coordination. Connection with a horse and proficiency in horse handling increase self-esteem. Understanding how one’s actions affect the horse increases social and emotional awareness.
Trained in Equine Facilitated Learning, Liz provides space for experiential learning. Reflection on actions, and the horse’s reactions provides opportunities for discussion / counselling. Understanding our thought processes and how our thinking affects our actions and how we interact with the world is the basis for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
